Indiana & Canada

If you live in Indiana, we can help you.

At Northland, we are here to help you if you are in need of a safe, legal, abortion without the additional burden or added cost. Northland Family Planning facilities are conveniently located just off the expressway, which makes getting to our offices from Indiana easy and fast. Our Westland office is 2.5 hours away from Fort Wayne and 3 hours from South Bend. Northland has negotiated lowered rates with some local hotels, and parking is generally free.

Second Trimester Abortion

Indiana has some of the most rigorous laws in the country regarding abortion in the second trimester.

Currently, Indiana requires abortions 14 weeks (LMP) or later to be performed in a hospital or surgical center, making abortion unnecessarily expensive and difficult to obtain.

We are able to provide safe, legal abortion services up to 24 weeks LMP.

Waiting Periods

Indiana’s 18-hour mandatory wait law requires patients to have in-person counseling. Only after this in-person meeting does the 18-hour waiting period start. There is no medical reason for this requirement.

In Michigan, we have a 24-hour law, but it doesn’t require you to come in and have an appointment before your abortion. Patients can get the 24-hour information online, and a staff member will give the required verbal portion over the phone when you call to make your appointment.

Call us today, we are here to help.

If you live in another state or country, please visit our website or give us a call at 734-721-4700 to see how we can be of service to you.  We are just 20 minutes across the Canadian border from Windsor, Ontario and exactly 1 hour from the Blue Water Bridge connecting Sarnia, Ontario to Port Huron, Michigan.  Northland sees patients from Windsor and the surrounding areas because it is often faster to get an appointment with us, and we perform abortion to 24 weeks gestation.

Currently in the United States, there is an assault on reproductive rights.  Over 700 bills in 42 states have been introduced across the country to regulate the constitutional right to choose.  These attacks are primarily focused on restricting and eliminating coverage for birth control and limiting access to abortion care.  In almost every one of these states, these anti-abortion laws are being made into law, significantly restricting and limiting access to abortion care and the right to self-determination.
