When faced with an unplanned pregnancy, the decision-making process looks different for every woman. For some, it is simple and straightforward. The decision is not hard or complicated—some women know immediately that abortion is the right choice, or that she is ready for motherhood.
For others, the decision can be much more difficult. An unplanned pregnancy can bring up feelings that go beyond the pregnancy itself, and may make you think about your relationship, goals for your future, and maybe past pregnancy experiences. Your experience is uniquely your own, and there is no right or wrong way to approach it.
Northland Family Planning uses what we call “Head and Heart” short term counseling. We want to make sure your head and your heart are connected and in sync with your decision. The overwhelming majority of women who come in for abortion appointments are sure and confident in their decision. For some women, however, short-term pregnancy options counseling helps. If you are feeling overwhelmingly conflicted and undecided about your pregnancy choice, Northland can help you. We have great decision-making resources from reputable and supportive agencies around the country. Our trained counseling staff can equip you with all the tools you need to make an informed choice.
If you find yourself having feelings after your abortion that are unexpected, we can still help you. Give us a call—we also have after abortion counseling referrals. We work with experienced and seasoned abortion counselors who listen, who understand, who will support you in your feelings.
